Here, we take a look at an easy, step-by-step guide that will help you in replacing your car’s old battery with a new one easily at home.
Locate the battery
Open the car’s hood and locate the battery. It’s usually in the engine compartment. Remember, if you’ve just turned the ignition off, allow some time for the compartment to cool down before you touch anything.
Disconnect the negative battery cable first
The negative cable is usually black. Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nut on the negative (-) terminal, then carefully remove the cable from the terminal. Be careful not to touch the exposed metal on the cable or terminal.
Disconnect the positive battery cable
The positive cable is usually red. Follow the same procedure to remove the positive cable safely.

Remove the old battery
Loosen the battery hold-down clamp or bracket and carefully lift out the old battery. Use a rag and battery terminal cleaner to clean the battery terminals. This will help to prevent corrosion and ensure a good connection.
Install the new battery
Place the new battery in the same location as the old battery. Make sure the positive and negative terminals are connected to the correct posts.
Connect the cables
Connect the positive cable first by using the wrench to tighten the nut that secures the cable to the battery terminal. Follow the procedure to connect the negative cable next. After this, close the hood of your car.
And that’s that. Now, start your car and check for leaks. If your car starts and there are no leaks, you have successfully replaced your car battery.
