Wagon lovers, you can finally quit your yapping. BMW has officially announced that the seventh-generation BMW M5 Touring is headed for U.S. shores. It seems BMW saw how well the Mercedes-AMG E63s Wagon and Audi RS6 Avant have sold in this country and decided it wanted in on the action.

BMW is already teasing the car that’s supposed to go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year by releasing a video of the sedan and wagon going on a road trip from Munich, Germany to Arjeplog, Sweden that comes as BMW is wrapping up on-road testing for the new M5. The automaker says that soon testing will begin on the Nürburgring to dial in the suspension.

Right now, specs for the new M5 are still a bit of a question mark, but BMW says the hybrid motor will be “closely related” to the one found in the BMW M Hybrid V8 GTP race car. However, if I were to place a bet, I’d say the next M5’s powerplant will be similar to what is found in the XM and XM Label. That’s a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged plug-in hybrid V8 that puts out 738 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. I wouldn’t be surprised if this car makes even more horsepower.

It’ll almost certainly need it, too, as the new M5 sedan weighs nearly 5,400 pounds, according to Motor1. It’s gonna be a chunky fella for sure, but if anyone is good at masking weight, it’s BMW.

That sort of weight and power is a very far cry from the first M5 Touring, which debuted all the way back in 1992 during the E34 generation. That car had to make do with a 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated I6. How did people even get around back then?

But anyway, the BMW M5 Touring is finally coming to the U.S. I know it’s going to cost a lot of money, but if you folks in the one percent don’t put down your cash on this car, I’ll be pissed at you.
