I have sworn by this foundation for years
Finding a foundation which fits all of your needs, it can be quite a challenge.
Whether you’re looking for a product to last all day during your 9 to 5 at the office, withstand a heatwave, or see you through on a night out, there’s something to fit every person’s needs.
Writer Emily Sleight put a range of budget drugstore buys and premium picks – such as Charlotte Tilbury – to the test, beginning from as little as £3.49 (it’s on offer).
With picks from all price ranges, there was one for Emily which was the stand-out, reported LiverpoolEcho.
Here is what she thought.

The Airbrush Flawless foundation promises weightless full coverage
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation – £39
Emily said: “When I saw that this foundation was being used on celebrities such as Kate Moss and Salma Hayek, I knew it must be good.
“When I first tried this product, I noticed it gave the skin a flawless look, covering all blemishes instantly.
“It did have a ‘weightless’ feel, as promised and for the most part, it did last throughout the day.
“However, the shade oxidised slightly after about 20 minutes (which can be common within full coverages), meaning it looked slightly darker, and I did touch up with some powder halfway through the day.
“All in all, I would recommend this foundation for a ‘flawless’ and smooth look, but I wouldn’t say it’s the ultimate long-lasting pick. You can find your shade here.”
The Double Wear foundation has an incredible 60 shades
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation SPF 10 – £39.50
When it came to Estee Lauder’s foundation, Emily explained: “For most people, when you think of ‘long wear foundation’, you think of the Estee Lauder Double Wear – and it certainly lives up to its name.
“The fact that it offers 60 shades is amazing, as there’s guaranteed to be something to suit all skin tones.
“This is definitely not a light formula by any means, but if you apply some moisturiser to the skin before application, and use a sparing amount, it works wonders.
“The foundation covered everything I wanted it to, and built up nicely in the areas I wanted some extra coverage.
“The foundation lasted 12 hours, and it definitely had some more life left in it.
“I even tried it mixed in with my moisturiser for a more natural look, and it worked well this way too. You can have a look at the double wear here.”
There’s an amazing selection of shades
L’Oréal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid – £10.99
Emily also tested out a couple of budget-friendly foundations. She continued: “Described on the Boots website as a foundation with ‘true-to-skin’ coverage, this foundation promises to ‘improve skin quality within two weeks’.
“If you’re a bit rubbish at picking the right shade (like me) even if you’re not absolutely spot on, this foundation manages to blend and match to your skin tone after oxidising onto your skin.
“Oxidising means when the pigments and oils in your makeup react to the air, causing your foundation to turn slightly darker.
“I’d always advise testing this foundation out first to get the perfect shade, but as a whole, the formula is beautiful.
“It gives your skin a flawless, airbrushed effect and doesn’t sink into fine lines at all.
“I wouldn’t say this foundation lasted a full day at work, however, and did need to be topped up. You can have a look at the L’Oréal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation here.”

Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation – £6.49 (currently £3.49 on offer)
Emily couldn’t help but share her enthusiasm for the Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation.
She said: “I will continue to rave about this foundation for a long time, especially considering the fact it cost me less than a tenner.
“I wore this Collection foundation to my office Christmas party and it stayed on for a very long time without being topped up, however, it did get quite shiny.
“As mentioned in my previous review, this foundation formula is pretty thick which is something to consider.
“The best part is, it doesn’t actually feel thick when you blend it onto your face. You can have a look at the Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation here.”
