For better or worse, retaining a youthful appearance is a common aspiration for many of us in terms of our looks. The anti-ageing industry is worth billions of pounds worldwide.
We’re told that specific creams and moisturisers can help banish unwanted wrinkles and lines in our skin, while hair dyes can be used to cover up grey hairs. And in some cases people will seek anti-ageing cosmetic treatments like Botox.
But if you’re after something less invasive, it is possible to roll back the clock by using make-up alone.
Speaking on YouTube, one expert shared a simple 10 second make-up hack that can help “naturally” lift your eyes.
Make-up artist of over 30 years and founder of RMS Beauty, Rose-Marie Swift, provided a tutorial for using eye liner.
In the video she applies a black straight line kohl eye pencil under her eyes. The key step in her process was to then smudge line up at the end of the eyes rather than down.
To achieve this she drew the line as usual and then smudged it in an upward motion using her finger.
She explained: “When you’ve got this on in the corner some of us will tend to pull it down on each side rather than lift it up.
“So what I want you to do is just take your finger and just go like that and you’ll almost get your own natural little turnup point with it.
“I don’t want it to go down because it pulls the eyes down so if you just get that little bit to make sure it’s lifted it’ll smudge a little bit up and give that lifted effect.
“It looks really good, remember everything has to go up.”
