Imran Khan has been away from the movies since his last release ‘Katti Batti‘ which came in 2015. The actor has been trying to figure out the larger picture in life, his entire well-being, mental health amidst lost more, while going through a lean phase in life. In his latest post, Imran has also revealed that during his time-off, he also build a house from scratch. He showed his interest and skills at being an architect and the internet is quite impressed.
He wrote, “So… one of the things I did over the past few years was to build a house. While I’ve played an architect in a few films, I can’t actually pretend to have any kind of training or expertise… but I do enjoy tinkering and learning stuff! I chose the site because it was unique. Uneven, flanked by two seasonal streams, backed right up against the base of a cliff… and facing the sunset. I knew right away that the landscape had to dictate the design of the house. The intention was not to build a lavish vacation villa, rather to make something that takes it cues from the landscape. The house isn’t meant to be the view, it’s a shelter from which to admire the view.”
In these pictures, Imran shared the entire journey on this house and how much it’s built so far. He further gave a detailed insight into it and said, “I decided to forego concrete slab construction, and instead follow the classic method used to build the houses in the surrounding villages; Stone plinth for the base, single story brick walls, steel roof beams, and pre-fabricated insulated roofing sheets. That’s it. It took a while, and it’s a bit uneven around the edges… but it was a joyous process. And ultimately, it cost me less than you would pay for one of the pre-made villas that I keep seeing advertised throughout the area. I wonder where the markup goes.”
While the internet loved this house, people also had many questions to ask. One user asked him where he got so much money from. Imran had the wittiest reply as he said, “I acted in a few movies back in the mid-2000’s.” Users loved this reply and said things like ‘witty reply’ and ‘best reply.’
Another user asked him if he did not cut many trees in order to build this house. Responding to it, the actor revealed, ” I consciously designed the house to maintain as many of the original trees as possible… then I planted 200 more around the property.”
Imran recently revealed that he sold off his grandfather Nasir Hussain’s palatial bungalow in Bandra and started living a more sustainable lifestyle.
