The makers of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ has finally unveiled its trailer. Penned and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, the film delves into the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar, who soared from poverty to become the highest record-selling artist of his era in the 1980s. Despite his meteoric rise to fame, Chamkila’s provocative music stirred controversy and ultimately led to his tragic assassination at the tender age of 27. The trailer promises to take audiences on a riveting journey through the highs and lows of Chamkila’s remarkable life, showcasing his indelible impact on music and culture.

With maestro AR Rahman at the helm of the film’s music and Irshad Kamil penning the lyrics, audiences are in for a treat with the upcoming collaboration between Rahman, Imtiaz, and Irshad after nine years. The recently released songs ‘Ishq Mitaye’ and ‘Naram Kaalja’ have already dominated charts, showcasing the irresistible appeal of Rahman’s compositions and Kamil’s poignant lyrics. Adding to the excitement, both Diljit and Parineeti have contributed their vocals to some of the original ‘Chamkila’ songs in Punjabi, promising a soulful and authentic musical experience. Moreover, the film promises a unique touch with live music recordings done on location, capturing the raw energy and enthusiasm of each moment as Diljit and Parineeti sing live in the Akhadaas.
