India-bound Honda NX500 revealed at EICMA: CB500X replacement with new design

Honda Motorcycles Europe has unveiled the new NX500 adventure touring motorcycle at the ongoing EICMA 2023 motor show held in Milan, Italy. The NX500 is not a new motorcycle, but is actually the replacement for the CB500X which is also currently available in the Indian market. Apart from the new name, the bike also gets a new design.
No changes have been made to the motor.The NX500 is equipped with the same 471.03 cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine producing 47 hp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm along with 43 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Honda says that an ECU update improves the acceleration feel, while Honda Selectable Torque Control is now standard.

The 2024 Honda NX500 gets new wheels which help in the reduction of 1.5 kg of weight, adding to an overall weight loss of 3 kg. The new wheels are matched by revised settings for the 41 mm Showa SFF-BP USD front forks and rear monoshock. Braking now comes from dual discs up front with two piston calipers, and a single disc brake at the back.
Moreover, the bike also gets a new LED headlight which is claimed to improve visibility at night. Also on offer is a new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity inherited from the XL750 Transalp, operated by a backlit 4-way toggle switch. The NX500 boasts a 17.5-litre fuel tank, has a seat height of 830 mm and a 180 mm ground clearance.
In India, the Honda CB500X is currently priced at Rs 5.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The NX500 is expected to be introduced as its replacement next year, and the price tag could inflate up to around Rs 6 lakh.
