Bethesda‘s Indiana Jones game was announced in 2021, and now we know that it’s called “Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.” Xbox unveiled a new gameplay video, confirming it will be released later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
MachineGames, the studio behind the modern Wolfenstein games, is developing the latest Indiana Jones game. Todd Howard, the executive producer, said that he has wanted to make an Indiana Jones game for a long time and that MachineGames is the best studio to create Indiana Jones And The Great Circle.
During Xbox’s January 18th Developer Direct, the studio unveiled a new three-minute and six seconds gameplay trailer for the game. The action-adventure game is set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The story involves a stolen artifact linked to an international network of ancient monuments that align with a circle spanning the world. Indy teams up with an investigative reporter to solve a complex mystery that takes him around the world. The game features first-person and third-person gameplay, with Indy exploring ancient tombs, solving puzzles, and fighting Nazis.
The game uses Harrison Ford’s likeness, but the character’s voice is provided by Troy Baker.
The trailer also showcases the other protagonist, Gina, who is an investigative reporter and has a personal interest in the mystery Indy is exploring. Then, our villain is the cerebral Emmerich Voss, who is obsessed with manipulation and the mind.
“Our game is about putting you in the shoes of an iconic hero,” said MachineGames design director Jens Andersson, “Since we are doing this mostly in first-person, you have the chance to truly become Indy.”
