India’s beloved Hero Splendor now in a new version: Xtec 2.0 with 73kmpl, new features

Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 in the Indian market to accommodate the celebration of Splendor’s 30th anniversary. The bike has been priced at Rs 82,911 (ex-showroom). The bike is Rs 3,000 more expensive than the outgoing model and is offered in three colour options – Matte Grey, Gloss Black and Gloss Red. The new Splendor Plus continues to compete with the Honda Shine 100, Bajaj CT 100 and the TVS Radeon.

The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 looks exactly the same as the old model except for very minor cosmetic updates and additional features.It gets the same classic design with square headlamps but it now comes with an LED unit with H-shaped DRLs inside making it the only 100cc bike offered with an LED headlamp. The colour schemes and the graphics are also new and it also gets a new design for the indicator housings.

In terms of features, the bike gets a digital instrument cluster that displays mileage information, a side-stand indicator, speedometer, odometer, trip meter and low fuel indicator readouts, Bluetooth connectivity with call and message alerts, a USB charging port and more. The bike now also gets hazard lights with a dedicated switch.

The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is powered by a 97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder petrol engine which puts out 8.02 hp at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The engine comes paired with a 4-speed gearbox and gets i3s (Idle Stop Start System) technology. It has a fuel tank capacity of 9.8 litres with claimed fuel efficiency of 73 kmpl.

At the front the bike gets telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers suspension at the rear with 5-step preload adjustability. Braking duties are taken care of by 130mm drum brakes at both ends with CBS and 80-section tubeless tyres with 18-inch wheels. It has a ground clearance of 165 mm and a kerb weight of 122 kg.
