BREAKING: DGCA imposes a penalty of Rs 30 lakh on IndiGo airlines and issues a notice following four tail strike incidents. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined IndiGo airlines Rs 30 lakh for four tail strike incidents that occurred in the last six months. Additionally, DGCA has instructed the airline to revise its documents and procedures to comply with the requirements and guidelines of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
During a special audit, DGCA reviewed IndiGo Airlines’ operations, training, engineering, and Flight Data Monitoring program. The audit revealed systemic deficiencies in the airline’s documentation regarding operational procedures, training procedures, and engineering procedures. DGCA issued a show cause notice to the airline, requesting a response within a specified timeframe. After reviewing the reply at various levels and finding it unsatisfactory, DGCA imposed a financial penalty of Rs 30 lakh on IndiGo airlines and instructed them to revise their documents and procedures according to DGCA requirements and OEM guidelines.
