Anisha Dixit also famously known by the name “Rickshawali”, is a well-known content creator and actor. Anisha’s content has a comic spin on the day-to-day lives of Indians. Anisha often talks about girls and sex education through her sketches. With around 10 years of experience in this industry, Anisha Started her journey when she was 22. In an exclusive interview with india.com, Anisha Dixit shared her experience on how the started her journey as a content creator, reflecting on the dual nature of social media. She recounted the harsh trolling she faced and how she dealt with it.
Anisha Dixit speaks on starting her journey as a content creator
Anisha Dixit reveals how she started her journey, she reveals that the name Rickshawali came by accident, it was when she was traveling in a rickshaw 10 years back and she took some pictures later, her then-boyfriend saw the pictures and suggested she should start something from the name Rickawali. Being born and brought up in Germany, Anisha shares that she came to Mumbai, India because she wanted to become an actor. ” I did many auditions, I was trying but somehow the door wasn’t opening and eventually I stayed here and found Rickshawali.”
Anisha also reveals that when she started her journey there weren’t a lot of people doing what she was doing and her friends and family also questioned her choice of career because they also didn’t had any point of reference.
Being an OG creator, Anesha also points out the evolution in the industry of content creation “10 years ago, there were mostly male voices out there and there weren’t many female voices out there, which also triggered me.” Anisha also shares that initially, she dealt with a lot of hate online for voicing out her female perspective “Most people were against me saying being a woman how can you voice your opinion, even though I was getting demotivated and a lot of hate, I pushed through.”
Anisha shares that now seeing girls coming to this platform, her purpose is fulfilled as she always wanted more women to voice out their opinions and make digital space a gender-equal platform.
Anisha Dixit on Social Media Trolling
Starting her journey 10 years ago, Anisha shares that the concept of social media trolling was new and alien to her unlike now when we know that trolling is a part and parcel of social media. “I was facing the time when you know you want to give up”. However, she dealt with it very gracefully, she, in fact, came up with the term “Love Punch”, which was a loving punch to her haters. She also says that hating mostly stems out of people’s own frustration and her series Love Punch also turned many of her into her fans. She also shares that her journey of content creation, dealing with hate, etc has taught her a lot about herself and the key to happiness of her life shouldn’t be dependent upon external validation.
Competition and Evolution in the Digital World
Anisha shared that she never sees anybody as a competition in fact, her purpose as a content creator was seldom to have more female voices on the internet. Talking more about competition Anisha says “The only thing we all have to make is always see them as a way to become better, to improve yourself.”
