Meet Ashwani Khurana, the man who is transforming Gurugram into a green oasis. Inspired by nature, he dedicated his life to creating Karma Lakelands in Gurugram. In 1989, Ashwani Khurana was India’s top-income tax payer, but he had other plans. He believes that responsible living and energetic advocacy are the key to happiness. Known as the former “lottery king” of the NCR, Khurana is now in charge of a forest that will be completed in 2023, after successfully resolving the conflict between man and nature.
At the age of 25, Khurana planted hundreds of trees at his Delhi farmhouse, marking his first experience with sustainable practices. Karma Lakelands, his eco-resort, boasts four forests, a nine-hole golf course, and eco-bricks made from recycled plastic. Located miles away from the busy city of Gurugram, it offers a luxurious retreat in the midst of one of India’s busiest centers. Visitors can partake in various activities such as beekeeping, observing the creation of environmental bricks, and playing golf. As night falls, the eco-oasis comes alive, and Khurana couldn’t be happier.
Khurana’s dream is to show the world how to live a successful, sustainable, and responsible life that goes beyond mere profit-seeking. He believes that karma plays a vital role in a successful life. His passion for the environment led him to plant 10,000 trees every year across different plots of land in Delhi, with the aim of reaching a target of one lakh trees in a decade. Despite coming from a successful business background, Khurana’s love for nature and the environment drove him to convert Gurugram into a green paradise.
