Thar.e Powertrain
Contrary to popular belief, the electric Thar will feature a larger and more powerful battery pack compared to the XUV400 electric SUV – the company’s only EV currently available in India. It is also expected to have two motors, each mounted on one axle, to deliver 4X4/AWD performance on an electric powertrain. The instant torque generated by the electric motors will enhance its off-roading capabilities.

Thar.e Design
The Thar.e is expected to receive major cosmetic updates to give it a futuristic look while still retaining the overall design language of the current ICE model. Recent teasers have hinted at squarish LED lamps with rounded-off corners.
Thar.e Range
Mahindra will likely launch the electric Thar with a segment-topping range to eliminate range anxiety for off-roading enthusiasts. The company has already achieved an impressive 456 km range on a single charge with the top-spec EL trim of the XUV400. It is expected to build on this capability to provide the Thar.e with the necessary range for off-road adventures.
Thar.e Platform
While Mahindra has confirmed that its ground-up EVs will be based on the new ‘INGLO’ platform, the Thar.e is likely to be based on the existing platform, albeit repurposed to accommodate a larger battery pack. The XUV400 electric SUV is also based on the 5-star rated XUV300 platform.
