iPhone 16 Capture button: Functions and gestures it may support
According to a report by The Information, the Capture button which is expected to arrive with the iPhone 16 lineup is expected to be a mechanical button instead of being a capacitive one. However, the rumoured button is likely to respond to pressure and touch.
The report claims that iPhone 16 users will be able to zoom in and out by swiping left and right on the button. Meanwhile, users will also be able to focus with a light press on the button. To activate a recording, users have to press the button with more force.
Apple plans to put the Capture Button on the right side of the iPhone 16 models, the report adds. The button is expected to be located below the Power button and in an ideal spot for finger access when the iPhone is held in a horizontal orientation.
Currently, this is the location where the mmWave antenna is placed in the models available in the United States. With the addition of the extra button, the antenna is expected to move to the left side of the device. The report also claims that Apple believes that the new button will be a major selling point for the iPhone 16 lineup. The company is also introducing this button to further push the iPhone as a camera alternative for shooting horizontal video, the report adds.
The report claims that Apple has not yet finalised the design of the iPhone 16. So, the function and design of the button may change in the coming days.
