Isuzu Ute Australia recalls thousands of D-Max vehicles over fire risk

Isuzu has issued an urgent recall for thousands of its popular utes over a manufacturing issue that could cause vehicle fires.

A recall notice by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts this week said D-Max utes were affected by the defect.

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the fuel hose may chafe against the engine oil level bracket and become damaged,” it says.

“If this occurs, fuel may leak in the presence of an external ignition source, resulting in a vehicle fire.”

A sudden vehicle fire could “increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants”, as well as pose a risk to other road users and property.
