It Was Only A Matter Of Time Before Someone Tried To Flip An Ineos Grenadier

The Land Rover Defender-inspired Ineos Grenadier first went into production in late 2022, but U.S. deliveries only began a year later. It’s a niche off-roader that is only going to appeal to a select group of buyers, but we’re not going to pretend that we can’t see the appeal of a bare-bones SUV that was built to take the original Defender’s place. Nor are we surprised that someone’s already trying to flip a Grenadier over on Cars & Bids.

With six days left on the auction, bidding is already past $45,000. That’s a long way from the Grenadier’s $71,500 starting price, but there’s still plenty of time for that price to climb. And, of course, the seller has a reserve on the auction, so if they don’t get their money back, they can try again or sell it privately. At the very least, though, we have to give them credit for ordering their Grenadier in Eldoret Blue instead of black or white. More color is always a good thing.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that this isn’t a flip. Perhaps the seller took delivery of their Grenadier, drove it for 100 miles and then decided that it was such a miserable experience that they needed to sell it immediately. It may have a BMW engine, but beyond that, you don’t exactly get a lot of creature comforts in the Grenadier. It doesn’t even have an independent front suspension, which makes it better off-road but less comfortable on-road.

As usual, we hope this latest flipping attempt fails, but it will still be interesting to see how much the market thinks a low-mile used Grenadier is worth. Are people desperate enough to cut in line that they’re willing to pay extra for this one, or is the interest just not there? We’ll find out in six days.
