Janhvi Kapoor has finally addressed the abrupt shelving of Dostana 2, a film she was set to star in alongside Kartik Aaryan and Laksh Lalwani under Karan Johar’s production banner. In 2021, rumours surfaced about Kartik’s ‘unprofessional’ behavior, which reportedly upset Karan Johar. These rumours led to the actor’s exit from the project. Subsequently, Dharma Productions issued an official statement indicating that the film would be recast.
In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Janhvi shared her perspective on what transpired during the shoot of Dostana 2. “I don’t know either. We had shot for that film for about 30 to 35 days. The shoot was going very well according to me. I don’t know why the film was shelved,” she said.
Janhvi explained that the production began well before the Covid-19 pandemic, which later caused a delay of over a year and a half, adding that then people felt that they would restart the film.

When probed about the rumoured fallout between Kartik and Karan, Janhvi stated, “I don’t think it was that. I think work is extremely important for both of them. But unke beech kya hua kya nahi hua, you should ask them about it.”
In order to bury the hatchet, Karan announced a new movie with Kartik on the actor’s 33rd birthday in November last year. This upcoming project will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, signaling a fresh start for both Karan and Kartik.

Janhvi, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of Mr and Mrs Mahi alongside Rajkummar Rao. It marks her second collaboration with director Sharan Sharma, who previously helmed Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The film also reunites her with Rajkummar Rao, following their successful pairing in Roohi. It is set to hit theatres on May 31.
