Nissan Skyline NISMO is a special edition car specifically designed for the Japanese market. In Japan, automakers tend to offer better products than they do overseas. Unfortunately, models like the Honda NSX-R, Subaru 22b STi RA, and Mitsubishi Evolution Wagon were never available in the US. However, now we have the Skyline NISMO, which has been tuned by NISMO and is available at Infiniti dealerships as the Q50.
The standout feature of the Skyline NISMO is its engine. It boasts a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, similar to what the new Nissan Z and Infiniti Q50 Red Sport have. While those cars produce 400 horsepower, the Skyline NISMO pushes it further to 414 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque, making it more powerful than the regular Z but slightly below the new Z NISMO. The engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Visually, the Skyline NISMO retains all the signature NISMO elements. It features NISMO-specific front and rear bumpers, side sill covers, red accents, and NISMO fog lamps, along with 19-inch Enkei wheels and wider tires.
Inside the car, you’ll find a steering wheel similar to the one in the Z NISMO, complete with a red mark at the 12 o’clock position. The car also has a 280 kph (173 mph) speedometer and black Recaro sports seats with red accents.
Nissan plans to produce only 1,000 units of the Skyline NISMO, as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the S54A-1 model Skyline GT. The car is priced at 7,880,400 Yen in Japan, which equates to just under $55,000 based on current conversion rates.
