New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board chief Muhammad Zaka Ashraf is again in the limelight as he reportedly revealed that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah will likely to resume the bilateral series between India and Pakistan after elections.
Both India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series against each other since 2013. The Indian government has banned bilateral series against the arch-rivals citing security concerns. BCCI has even refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the recently concluded Asia Cup and later India matches were played in Sri Lanka.
As per the reports in Pakistan media, Zaka Ashraf met Jay Shah to discuss about resuming bilateral matches between India and Pakistan. The PCB chief stated that BCCI secretary wanted to bilateral series to take place between two countries to place but wanted the nod from Government of India. However, it is not clear where the meeting took place.
“I met Jay Shah and he’s ready to resume Pakistan vs India matches on regular basis, but he needs his government’s approval. We are hopeful of some good news from India after the elections there this year” – Zaka Ashraf

In the recent outing between arch-rivals in recently concluded ODI World Cup, India won the match by seven wickets.
Now, both sides will face each other in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in USA on June 9, 2024.
