LAWRENCE — Kansas football’s 2023 season concluded Tuesday with a Guaranteed Rate Bowl matchup against UNLV.
The Jayhawks were making their second-straight bowl game appearance. The Rebels came in off of almost winning a conference title this season.

UNLV is sticking around
UNLV found the end zone again, and came up short going for two again, and now trail 49-36 as the fourth quarter starts to draw to a close. The drive went 80 yards in five plays and took 1:44 off of the clock. It was another touchdown pass for the Rebels.
Kansas continues to enjoy success offensively
Kansas has scored another touchdown, and after the extra point the Jayhawks lead 49-30 with 8:16 left in the fourth quarter. The score came on a 43-yard pass from Jason Bean to Luke Grimm. The drive lasted 1:33 and went 46 yards in three plays.
Kansas extends its lead again
Kansas didn’t waste much time driving for another touchdown, and after the extra point leads 42-30 with 11:10 left in the fourth quarter. The drive went 61 yards in two plays and took 50 seconds off of the clock. The score came on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Jason Bean to Lawrence Arnold.
UNLV answers quickly
It’s a one-score game again with 12:06 left in the fourth quarter, after a touchdown drive that saw UNLV score but fail to convert a two-point conversion. It’s a 35-30 lead for Kansas now, after the Rebels’ seven-play and 88-yard drive that took 2:45 off of the clock. UNLV scored on an 11-yard rush by Jacob De Jesus.
Kansas ends its scoring drought
Kansas finally scored again with 14:52 left in the fourth quarter on a touchdown drive, and after the ensuing extra point leads 35-24. The drive went 99 yards in 10 plays and took 6:53 off of the clock. The score came on a 40-yard pass from Jason Bean to Lawrence Arnold.
END 3Q: Kansas 28, UNLV 24
UNLV makes it a one-score game
UNLV now trails only 28-24, after another touchdown drive and the ensuing extra point. It was a quick, one-play drive that went 37 yards and lasted just seven seconds. The score came on a pass from Jayden Maiava to Ricky White.
UNLV cuts into Kansas’ lead again
UNLV now trails 28-17 with 12:15 left in the third quarter, after a touchdown drive and the ensuing extra point. The drive took 2:39 off of the clock and went 42 yards in five plays, after another turnover by Kansas. The score came on a five-yard pass from Jayden Maiava to Shelton Zeon III.
HALFTIME: Kansas 28, UNLV 10
UNLV added a field goal as time expired in the second quarter. That brought the score to 28-10, with Kansas still leading. It was a 40-yard field goal that ended a drive that went 38 yards in five plays and took 1:15 off of the clock.
Kansas continues to pull away
Kansas is up 28-7 now with 1:21 left in the second quarter after another touchdown drive and the ensuing extra point. The score came on a one-yard rush by Devin Neal. The drive took 3:42 off of the clock and went 70 yards in eight plays.
Kansas extends its lead
Kansas is up 21-7 now with 7:57 left in the second quarter, after a touchdown drive and the ensuing extra point. The drive went 66 yards in five plays and took 1:19 off of the clock. The touchdown came on a 15-yard pass from Jason Bean to Lawrence Arnold.
Kansas takes the lead for the first time
Kansas football leads 14-7 with 11:37 left in the second quarter, after a touchdown drive and the ensuing extra point. The drive went 80 yards in four plays and took 1:56 off of the clock. The score came on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Jason Bean to Luke Grimm.

Kansas responds
Kansas football has tied the score at 7-7 with 2:05 left in the first quarter, after a touchdown drive and the ensuing extra point. The Jayhawks scored on a six-yard touchdown pass from Jason Bean to Luke Grimm. The drive went 98 yards in nine plays and took 4:48 off of the clock.
UNLV opens the scoring
UNLV struck first with a touchdown on its opening drive. The Rebels scored on a three-yard rushing score from Vincent Davis Jr. After the extra point, and a drive that went 65 yards in eight plays and took 3:53 off of the clock, UNLV leads 7-0 with 11:07 left in the first quarter.
