Griggs, 50, who began as host in 2005, has opened up about leading the show and working alongside her on-air and off-air teams.

“I think one thing is that I would respect all of the other presenters, and I know they had that same respect back,” she tells 7NEWS.com.au.

“I think that the same goes with the production team. I think that’s really core to it.”

The Olympian says that she takes a “hands-on” approach, keeping in touch with the team via social media and updating them on future schedules.

“We integrate a really positive, nice working environment.”

Griggs credits her vast experiences swimming at the Olympic Games, working in newsrooms and sitting on boards in allowing her to learn to “deal with different people”.

“I’ve had great mentors who were really great educators.

“Those people were the ones that taught me that the more that you keep a team communicating and look after not just the on-camera team, but the off-camera team, check in with people and make sure you’ve got a happy team, and make sure people feel that they’re seen and that they’re heard.

“It goes a long way.”

If Griggs were to advise others in a leadership role, she would encourage listening.

“It’s really important that it’s not always you talking, that you learn to listen to everyone else and that really has to be collaborative,” she says.

Griggs raises the issue of a team member struggling but not telling anyone on the team.

“There’s always a solution to any problem if everyone knows about it, it’s only when people keep it to themselves that you can’t help them.”

The team is coming together to celebrate their Logies nomination in the category Most Popular Lifestyle Program, held at The Star Sydney.

Griggs says that while the nomination is exciting, the BHAG team looks forward to dressing up and reuniting at the award show regardless of whether they take home the Logie.

“We actually love the night because our team is from all over, and we only get together about five to six times a year,” she shares.

“So, to see everyone dressed up and not in their work clothes and to actually hang out for a night and not be working is actually a lot of fun.

“So we always look forward to it. We have an absolute ball.”
