BALLER MOVE: Sit In All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB5
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Chargers running back Joshua Kelley is the only member of his backfield who has been active for all 14 games this season, but he remains off the fantasy radar for Week 16. The Bolts, in their first game after firing head coach Brandon Staley, take on the Buffalo Bills this Saturday, Dec. 23, at 8 p.m. EST.
The Chargers are coming off an embarrassing 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last Thursday. In the hours after that crushing defeat, the team fired both Staley and general manager Tom Telesco, filling those roles on an interim basis with Giff Smith and JoJo Wooden, respectively.
In the blowout loss, Kelley served as the clear No. 3 backfield option for Los Angeles. Not only was he out-produced by Austin Ekeler, but he also took a backseat to Isaiah Spiller. In fact, Spiller was the most utilized running back, rushing 16 times for 50 yards on the ground.
The Chargers’ offensive woes will continue on Saturday against a Buffalo team that just shut down the Dallas Cowboys and MVP candidate Dak Prescott. Los Angeles will presumably fare even worse with an offense sans Justin Herbert (finger), Keenan Allen (heel), and Mike Williams (knee). Ironically, running back is the only position where Los Angeles is healthy, which means Kelley is relegated to a depth role.
Given his drastically reduced role in one of the NFL’s worst offenses, Kelley should be avoided in all fantasy leagues this week. Ekeler is the only trustworthy Charger from a fantasy perspective, though Joshua Palmer, Gerald Everett, and Spiller could all warrant some low-end consideration in deeper formats.
BALLER MOVE: Consider as a flex in 10+ team leagues POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3 ANALYSIS: Javonte Williams isn’t getting any favors from the Broncos’ schedule in the fantasy playoffs. Denver’s lead back tallied 20 total yards on 14 touches in Week 15 at Detroit, who allow the fewest rushing yards to running backs this season. His Week… Read More
BALLER MOVE: Start in deeper leagues POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-end DST1 ANALYSIS: The Packers are mostly a matchup play in Week 16 with an advantageous matchup with the Panthers. Carolina ranks as the second-most favorable DST matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed. The Panthers have allowed a positive POA in six of their last seven games,… Read More
BALLER MOVE: Start in deeper leagues POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-end DST1 ANALYSIS: It seems like a long time ago that the Eagles were considered an elite DST option. They sneak back into Tier 3 this week largely due to their home matchup with the Giants. The Giants are the third-most favorable DST opponent by adjusted fantasy… Read More
BALLER MOVE: Start in all leagues POSITIONAL VALUE: DST1 ANALYSIS: The Broncos are another DST that has come a long way up the rankings compared to earlier in the season. You will need to shed the recency bias of Week 15, during which the Broncos allowed 42 points to the Lions. The home-road splits for… Read More
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12-team PPR formats POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3 ANALYSIS: Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett is coming off of a frustrating game against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Lockett was targeted nine times in the 20-17 victory by backup quarterback Drew Lock, but he caught just three of those passes for 21 yards. The… Read More
