With all four KTM riders’ contracts running through 2024, the manufacturers had to find a way to either bring more RC16s to the grid or someone from GasGas making way for Acosta to fit in. That said, Pol Espargaro is now understood to have accepted the test and wild-card role at the KTM’s satellite team. The team said that the two parties reached a ‘mutual agreement’ as Espargaro is sided to bring in the prodigy.

Acosta, the winner of Moto3 in 2021 has shown flashes of brilliance this season in Moto2, winning four races this season and leading the riders’ championship with 50 points at present. Tech3 has said that ““will fill a crucial and very valued position” , indicating that the Spaniard will switch to a test and wild-card rider for the satellite team.
