Kate Middleton wears promise ring alongside scruffy Prince William in new video

Kate Middleton was spotted wearing her old promise ring from Prince William in a video congratulating British athletes on their performances at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Princess of Wales, 42, made a surprise appearance in the video alongside William, 42, and several other British celebrities. William also surprised by sporting a rarely seen beard.

“From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB,” the princess said in the video, while William added: “Well done on all you’ve achieved. You’ve been an inspiration to us all.”

But what got the most attention was the ring on Kate’s left hand. It appeared to be a promise ring given to her by William while they were students at the University of St. Andrews in the early 2000s, according to royal observers.

Kate has rarely been spotted wearing the promise ring since William gave her the much flashier 12-carat engagement ring on Oct. 20, 2010. The promise ring includes two garnets for Kate’s January birthday and pearls for William’s June birthday.

William and Kate were joined in the video by David Beckham, BBC presenter Greg James, Olympic gold medalist Kelly Holmes and several other stars. Even Snoop Dogg, famous friend of Queen Elizabeth II, joined to say congratulations.

“Thank you, Great Britain, on behalf of big Snoop Dogg, the prince and his lovely wife,” Snoop said to close the video.

Kate has made few public appearances since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March. She attended Trooping of the Colour in the middle of June and watched the Wimbledon men’s singles final live in mid-July. She and William did not attend any Olympic events in Paris, though William was spotted at the European men’s soccer championships back in July.
