Akshay Kumar’s lean phase continues despite his latest release Khel Khel Mein performing decently at the box office, surviving the onslaught from Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao led Stree 2. Akshay has been struggling to draw audiences to cinema halls since the pandemic, with OMG 2 and Sooryavanshi being the only two exceptions.
Khel Khel Mein is directed by Mudassar Aziz and has a stellar cast of Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Pragya Jaiswal, and Aditya Seal.The film earned Rs 19.35 crore in first week, on its second Friday the film witnessed a 30 % drop over its Thursday collection to collect just Rs 70 lakh. But on Saturday, the film’s collection jumped by nearly 85 % to collect Rs 1.35 crore, and on Sunday, the collections went up to Rs 1.75 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the second weekend collection to Rs 3.8 crore, and total collection of the film to Rs 23.15 crore.
Besides Stree 2 and Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency coming out on September 6th, Khel Khel Mein can expect a pretty steady ride at the box office . Akshay has a very interesting slate of films lined up, from Sky Force releasing on 2nd October, to Singham Again on Diwali to Welcome to the Jungle, Jolly LLB 3, and The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair next year . He has also reportedly joined hands with Siddharth Anand for his next being directed by Milan Lutharia.
