Mudassar Aziz’s ‘Khel Khel Mein‘, starring Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu, has garnered significant attention at the box office, earning a commendable Rs 13.95 crore net in India during its first four days.
While audiences in India embraced the character and his storyline with enthusiasm, a significant portion of his role in the climax was cut in the UAE due to ‘local restrictions.’ Director Mudassar Aziz responded to the alterations made in the UAE version of the film.
During his conversation with Midday, Mudassar Aziz expressed his thoughts on the situation, stating that as a filmmaker, it is both his professional and moral duty to create diverse characters and address important topics. He acknowledged that while it was disheartening to see a relevant and dignified part of Khel Khel Mein removed from the UAE release, he was thrilled by the positive response those scenes were receiving from audiences around the world.
Fardeen Khan expressed that his aim with the role was to contribute to a necessary and relevant conversation. He noted that although edits were made, the intention behind the role of promoting acceptance remains intact, and he emphasized the importance of the message.
‘Khel Khel Mein’ features a star-studded cast, including Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Pragya Jaiswal in leading roles. Chitrangda Singh also makes a special cameo appearance in the film, which is directed by Mudassar Aziz.
Despite facing competition from films like John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa’ and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Stree 2’, released around the same time, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ has managed to draw in audiences, particularly in metro cities.
