Lady Gaga Goes Full ‘Transformers’ Mode In a Car Part Dress

Lady Gaga may have outdone herself last night. At the world premiere of her concert film, Gaga Chromatica Ball, the singer honored the 2020 album by returning to the avant garde style that helped put her on the map. But even for the consistently over-the-top dresser, this look is rivaled only by her meat dress.

Mother Monster wore a white floor-length, one-shoulder dress riddled with grommets. Over the dress she wore an armor-like piece that made her look like a Transformers character mid…transformation. The piece, made of car parts and steel bars, seemed more likely to be found in a John Chamberlain show than on a person—but isn’t that classic Gaga, after all? The brutalist, almost cybersygilistic look was created by Berlin-based Argentinian designer Selva Huygens under his eponymous label Selva, and styled by Nicola Formichetti. The all-white look was part of Huygens [BFAM] (Brutalist Functional Art Movement) series.

Returning to her love of a dangerously high heel, Gaga wore a pair of teetering white platforms with the already bold outfit. The chameleonic singer went with an eye-catching beauty look to go with her innovative ensemble, opting for bleached eyebrows and black microbangs.

And as for Lady Gaga’s take on the whole look? “On the red carpet I told them it was a car part. They said what kind and I said I don’t know, I’m not a mechanic,” she wrote on Instagram. Fair enough!
