The Aussie TV legend won for his work on Channel 7’s The Morning Show and The Chase Australia.

It is the first Gold Logie of Emdur’s glittering 40-year career.

“I just remembered I did say if I won this, during the week … I was so convinced that I wasn’t going to win this that I said that if I did win it, I would have all the nominees’ initials tattooed on my a*** live tomorrow morning,” he said, prompting the room to explode into laughter.

“We’ll see you on The Morning Show tomorrow.“

Speaking in the media room after the win, Emdur said he would need to talk to his wife to decide exactly where the tattoo will go.

Reflecting on the award, and his 40 years in the business, Emdur said he was the “most axed man in television, and there have been some terrible things, plenty of times I’ve had to think do I look right, am I right for this?”

Renown for being one of the nicest people in the business, Larry said his attitude was informed by advice from his dad.

“When I went in for my first day on the job in the Seven newsroom … he said, ‘Just be nice to everyone’,” Larry recalled.

“And after a few days he asked me how it’s going and I said, ‘Dad, I’m trying but there’s so many a******** in this business.’ Like, so many.”

He also paid tribute to his two children, Jye and Tia and wife Sylvie, as well as Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies, the team behind the show and his Chaser colleagues.
