The Brisbane Lions are confident star midfielder Lachie Neale will be fit to play the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday despite leaving training early today after suffering a shoulder injury.

Neale was seen clutching at the same shoulder he injured back in Round 15 against Geelong, a game in which he managed to play on.

Shortly after vision emerged of the Neale leaving the field, the Lions released a statement on Twitter confirming he will be ready to go this weekend.

“Lachie fell on his shoulder and got a bit of a stinger,” the club said.

“He’s completely fine and he’s going to be alright to play this weekend.”

Earlier, Nine’s Queensland reporter Mark Gottlieb captured the moment the reigning Brownlow Medallist was seen leaving the field in some discomfort.

“Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale has left the Gabba after falling awkwardly on the same shoulder he partially dislocated a few weeks ago,” Gottlieb tweeted.

The 28-year-old midfielder has battled through multiple injuries this season having played just 11 out of a possible 17 games due to a calf and ankle issue.

Neale this season has averaged just under 26 disposals a game, along with a tally of nearly seven clearances per game for Brisbane.
