Lotus says that the new ‘Lotus Flash Charge’ can provide its Eletre R electric SUV with a range of 142 km in about 5 minutes of charge.In comparison, the widely usedTesla Supercharger V3 (previous iteration) can provide up to 121 km of range in the same time period. The British car manufacturer says that a 10% to 80% charge can be achieved in just 20 minutes.

The Lotus Flash Charge is said to already have been rolled out in China, with a launch across majority of European countries and Middle East expected in Q2 2024. Existing Lotus customers will also be able to upgrade their existing chargers to the higher power output in due time, without any additional hardware costs.
“Charging anxiety remains one of the main barriers to electric vehicle adoption, with nearly 80% of the public citing the lack of charging infrastructure as a primary reason for not buying an EV in a survey conducted by the Energy Policy Institute. With Lotus’ charging capabilities, the company is providing consumers with reliability and confidence wherever they are driving,” said Lotus announcing the launch of the new 450 kW DC fast charger.
Lotus recently marked its entry into the Indian market with the launch of the Eletre electric SUV at a jaw-dropping base price of Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom). With the range-topping Eletre R putting out a whopping 905 horsepower, the Lotus EV is the most powerful, and also the most expensive electric SUV available in India.
