Talking about his character in the film in an interview with Variety, Ranbir said.that his character is a captivating mix of strength, vulnerability, and unpredictability, driven by a dark past. The makers of the film recently held a huge pre-release event in Hyderabad which was attended by the cast and crew of the film with SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu being the special guest at the event. And it was here that Mahesh Babu spoke up about his huge admiration for Ranbir. He called him the best actor in the country. Taking to the stage, Mahesh said, “I told this to him when I met him, but I don’t think he took me seriously. But today on this stage, I’m saying that I’m a huge Ranbir Kapoor fan and in my opinion, he’s the best actor in India. And I have a feeling that Animal is his best work till date.”

Rajamouli asked Ranbir if he could choose only one filmmaker between him and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who would it be. Ranbir tried to wriggle out of the situation by saying he can work two shifts, but Rajamouli didn’t allow that. And Ranbir said that he will choose Sandeep.
