Mahindra XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07: Powertrain and battery
Mahindra confirmed that all the upcoming electric SUVs will be based on the INGLO platform. The specifications of the electric motors have also been revealed by the Indian manufacturer at the event. Mahindra unveiled three motors which will be powering the future models. The brand said that the XUV.e will use the motor sourced from Valeo and it will generate 170 kW (231 hp) power and 380 Nm torque.
The Mahindra BE.05 and BE.07 electric SUVs will use front and rear-mounted motors, sourced from VW (Volkswagen). The front axle-mounted motor will produce a power of 80 kW (109 hp) and a torque of 135 Nm, while the rear axle-mounted motor will generate a power of 210 kW (286 hp) and a torque of 535 Nm. The brand said that these powertrains have been tested already.
Coming to the battery pack, the manufacturer also revealed a 79 kWh using LFP cells battery, which will be beneficial over the LFP apps available in the market today, says the brand. The battery is claimed to be juiced up from 0-80% in just 39 minutes.
Mahindra XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07: Launch timeline
As confirmed by the brand, the Mahindra XUV.e8 will launch in December 2024. The electric SUV will be based on the ICE part of the Mahindra XUV700. Next will be Mahindra XUV.e9 which will launch in April 2025. The XUV.e9 will share the interior and powertrain with the XUV.e8.

The Mahindra Born Electric SUV range further consists of the BE.05, the electric coupe SUV will be launched in October 2025. Mahindra BE.07 will launch in April 2026.
Mahindra XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07: Collaboration with A R Rahman
Mahindra Electric Automobiles Ltd. (MEAL), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra also unveiled a new sonic identity in collaboration with Indian musical composer A R Rahman. The sonic identity was unveiled along with Mahindra’s new visual identity, for its new range of born electric vehicles.
The sonic identity encompasses over 75 unique sounds tailored for Mahindra’s forthcoming global electric SUVs. These sounds include interior and exterior drive sounds, experience zone modes, infotainment cues, and functional signals, such as seat-belt alerts and turn indicators. Each sound has been meticulously crafted to align with Mahindra’s brand and connect with the customers through music and lifestyle.
The sonic compositions were developed after Rahman spent time at Mahindra’s testing facility in Kanchipuram, said Mahindra. Dolby Atmos will be integrated into the driving experience with 360 degree surround sound solution from HARMAN. The electric SUVs will feature a factory of soundscapes and will be complemented by visual enhancements, such as active ambient lighting and high-resolution animations.
