Mahindra Thar owner’s off-road video gets trolled on internet: Police issues challan

At a time when tourism is at its peak in Himachal Pradesh and videos of long traffic jams have emerged from the hilly region, a person driving a Mahindra Thar in Himachal Pradesh allegedly tried to avoid the traffic congestion by going through a shallow riverbed, but it didn’t go well. The incident, which took place in the Chandra river of District Lahaul Spiti, was caught on camera and has since been circulating on social media.
SP Mayank Chaudhry confirmed that the vehicle involved has been charged under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Additionally, the district police have stationed personnel at the mentioned location to prevent similar offenses in the future.

While the Thar’s off-road capabilities were on full display as it splashed through the water, the driver’s actions drew sharp criticism from social media users. The video served as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between enjoying the beauty of Himachal Pradesh’s natural landscape and preserving its fragile ecosystem. This isn’t the first time when tourists have been recorded performing unconventional maneuvers through the valleys.
