Mahindra & Mahindra is set to introduce the much-awaited 5-door iteration of its popular Thar model in India, the Thar Roxx, which features a more practical 5-door design and several other key changes. The launch is scheduled for August 15, 2024, and the company has lately started drip-teasing the model, revealing key details about this SUV. In the latest teaser images shared by the manufacturer today, it is confirmed that the model will be equipped with a feature that has been particularly fan-favourite in India.Well, if you haven’t guessed it already, the Thar Roxx will be getting a panoramic sunroof. This addition is expected to enhance the appeal of the SUV, offering a touch of luxury along with its rugged capability.

Thar Roxx: Other design and exterior upgrades

The Thar Roxx gets several design upgrades over its 3-door predecessor. The front end boasts a new six vertically-stacked double slat grille, giving the SUV a more rugged and bold appearance. Besides that, circular headlamps with LED projectors and integrated C-shaped DRLs further modernize its look. The fog lights and turn indicators have been redesigned for a sleeker appearance, and the SUV now features dual-tone ORVMs, a silver bumper, and newly designed diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Other teasers and leaked images of the Thar Roxx revealed vertically-stacked door handles on the rear doors and a camera on the ORVMs, hinting at the inclusion of a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

Thar Roxx: Engine options

Mahindra is expected to offer the Thar Roxx with three engine choices: the existing 2.0-litre turbo petrol, a 2.2-litre diesel, and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engines will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions, catering to a variety of driving preferences. As with the 3-door model, the Thar Roxx will likely feature both rear-wheel drive and a 4WD setup.
