Major milk company Almond Breeze withdraws from Woolworths and Coles, effective immediately

A major milk company has withdrawn its business from all retailers in Australia and New Zealand, including Woolworths and Coles.

Almond Breeze milk products will no longer be available in stores across Australia once current stock is sold.

Blue Diamond Growers, the suppliers of Almond Breeze, issued a controversial statement, saying that its products were “no longer competitive or profitable.”

The company then went on to say that it was choosing to focus on countries where its products were the “#1 almond beverage with a dedicated consumer base.”

7NEWS.com.au understands that Woolworths and Coles are aware of the decision to withdraw Almond Breeze from sale in their stores.

The products that will no longer be available are:

  • Almond Breeze Original 1L x 8
  • Almond Breeze Unsweetened 1L x 8
  • Almond Breeze Chocolate 1L x 8
  • Almond Breeze Vanilla Unsweetened 1L x 8
  • Almond Breeze Barista Blend 1L x 8
  • Almond Breeze Home Barista Blend 1L x 8
  • Almond Breeze Extra Creamy 1L x 8

In a statement to retailers and customers, the company confirmed that it “will be removing the following Blue Diamond products from all Australian & New Zealand retailer locations”.

“We intend to sell the remaining inventory held by our licensee, Grocery Corporation Pty Ltd, trading as GC Brands, and various retailers until stock is depleted to allow for future planning by our customers,” the company stated.

“Blue Diamond Growers appreciate and value our customer and business relationships in Australia and New Zealand; however, Blue Diamond has come to a crossroads where the product offerings are no longer competitive or profitable.

“While we regret any inconvenience this announcement may cause, we are eager to focus our attention on other territories where Almond Breeze remains the #1 almond beverage with a dedicated consumer base.”

The news has hit hard with consumers, with many saying it was the preferred choice for themselves and their families.

“It’s the only milk my dairy allergy kid will drink,” said one.

Another said: “Oh my goodness! My daughter loves the chocolate milk.

“Can’t get her to drink any other brand and plain milk is apparently disgusting! Apologies to everyone out there but I am going to be stocking up.”

A third wrote: “Oh wow. Might check local supermarket if they have on discount if any left.”

One more added: “Maybe if it wasn’t so freaking expensive then they may sell more.”
