One woman was stabbed to death and her 17-year-old daughter seriously injured in an apparent act of domestic violence in unincorporated Redwood City early Sunday morning, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s office.
Authorities responded to a 911 call at 12:30 a.m. from a woman screaming that someone was trying to kill her on the 3200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. When deputies arrived at the residence, a multi-dwelling building, they found a man covered in blood standing outside.
The man, identified as Jose Uriarte-Martinez, was apprehended. Inside the home, deputies found the two female victims, both of whom had been stabbed multiple times. Deputies provided medical assistance and arranged for the women to be transferred to Stanford Hospital.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s office, the two women were mother and daughter.
The mother died of her injuries at the hospital. The daughter is now in stable condition.
Uriarte-Martinez, a 44-year-old from Redwood City, is currently being held at the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City with no bail status.
