Man in UK recovers stolen car with Google Earth after cops fail to take action: Here’s how

A car owner in the United Kingdom managed to track down his £23,000 (INR 23.31 lakh) car after it was stolen from his Birmingham home, thanks to Google Earth. As per a report by Metro, Jayy Robinson was due to go work, and when he went downstairs, he realised that both his cars – a sporty Seat and a Volkswagen Gold were stolen.
Thieves had reportedly broken into his house and taken the keys to his two cars. The devastated 23-year old posted about the brazen theft on social media after being left ‘unimpressed’ with the actions of police.
A blurry video of the stolen Seat was shared on image sharing social media platform Snapchat and seen by Robinson’s friend Jamie, but the thief demanded £2,000 to return the car!

Being a tech savvy, Jamie was able to help Robinson do a reverse image search of the building the car was parked next to, and the pair managed to triangulate the location after spotting the name of a housing estate on a wheelie bin. Using Google Earth to identify the exact street where the vehicle was parked, the pair quickly called the police, who were able to recover the Seat, just six miles away from Jayy’s house in Birmingham.
Jay was less than impressed with West Midlands Police. “I called them on Saturday afternoon for an update but they told me it hadn’t even been allocated yet. I then called them on Sunday and they said it was still pending allocation, I wouldn’t have got the Seat back if I hadn’t taken matters into my own hands,” he said. It should be noted that his Volkswagen Golf, worth about £16,000 (INR 16.23 lakh) is yet to be found.
