Man stabbed during brawl in Manly in Sydney’s northern beaches

A neighbour reported hearing “heaps of screaming” and aggression before a man was stabbed in the chest in a brawl on Sydney’s northern beaches overnight.

The fight started out the front of the Manly Waves apartment building between two men on Pacific St in Manly about 2.45am on Sunday.

Police were called to the scene and arrived to find the 24-year-old victim in a serious condition with stab wounds to his chest and arm.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and is still on the run.

Detectives spent much of Monday scouring the scene and collecting evidence, including blood-stained clothing, at two locations — inside a room on the second floor and out on the street.

However, no weapon has been found, nor have any arrests been made at this stage.

Shaken residents told 7NEWS they were woken up startled during the ordeal.

Neighbours reported hearing a group of people fighting about 2am before police arrived, with one neighbour telling 7NEWS they heard “heaps of screaming, like really scary swearing and sort of like aggression towards each other”.

Other residents said the apartment block often attracts trouble.

“We have a lot of screaming and carrying on all the time … it’s not a very pleasant place,” another local told 7NEWS.
