Jack Dorsey Fires Back at Mark Zuckerberg’s Follow Request on Threads
Former Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, took a playful jab at Mark Zuckerberg after receiving a follow request from him on Threads. Dorsey shared a screenshot on Twitter, showing Zuckerberg’s request on the social media app launched by Meta.
Threads, the Twitter rival developed by Mark Zuckerberg, has quickly gained popularity with over 150 million downloads. Similar to Twitter, which Dorsey co-founded in 2006, Threads allows users to share text, images, links, and respond to messages.
In response to Zuckerberg’s follow request, Dorsey wrote, “Too soon b,” in the caption of his Twitter post.
Meta launched Threads on July 5 for iOS and Android users in 100 countries. Within seven days, the app has surpassed 150 million downloads worldwide, making it one of the top free apps on the App Store. According to Data.ai, the app’s launch was 5.5 times faster than the previous record set by Pokemon GO in 2016.
India leads the way in Threads’ user presence, accounting for approximately 32% of downloads. Brazil follows, contributing about 22% of installations, and the US represents nearly 16% of the total. Other top markets for Threads include Mexico with 8% and Japan with 5% of downloads.
Within five days of its launch, Threads reached over 100 million user sign-ups. The app gained 2 million sign-ups within two hours, 10 million within seven hours, and 30 million within 12 hours after its release.
