With the arrival of Bharat NCAP, India’s car safety assessment program, it was anticipated that Maruti Suzuki would send several models for crash testing. Although official results are pending, unverified reports suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has recently undergone testing, with leaked images fueling speculation about its safety ratings.

The leaked images show that the Grand Vitara underwent rigorous crash tests, including frontal, side, and pole impacts. A closer look reveals that the SUV’s structure held up well, with airbags deploying swiftly to protect the occupants. It is also seen that the model trim equipped with six airbags was used for the side pole impact test, in which the airbags have deployed successfully – a crucial factor that will impact the overall ratings. Overall, the Maruti Brezza’s structure seems to have effectively absorbed the frontal impacts and performed well in all the tests, ensuring the occupants’ safety.

While these images are not conclusive, they surely have sparked speculation that the SUV could be one of the safest in the company’s portfolio, potentially earning a 4 or 5-star rating.

However, it is important to note that like the GNCAP, the BNCAP rating takes into account a multitude of factors beyond structural integrity, including occupant protection, child safety, and safety assist technologies. Official BNCAP results should be considered the definitive result.

The Maruti Grand Vitara comes equipped with a host of safety features, including up to six airbags, hill hold assist, ESP, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, front seat belt pre-tensioners and force limiters, three-point ELR seat belts for all seats, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
