New Delhi: Matheesha Pathirana was making headlines when a photo and video got viral claiming that the young Sri Lanka pacer was taking blessings from skipper MS Dhoni by touching down his feet before bowling his over.

Social media users started sharing the video and photos to praise Pathirana for his humility and admiration for the cricketing icon. But if you watch the video more closely then you will find out that he was doing something else. Here is the video.

Pathirana was simply picking up his bowling marker, coincidentally near Dhoni’s feet. The impression or illusion gotten from some angles suggested that the bowler was touching Dhoni’s feet which is not true.

With two out of two wins from its home matches, defending champions CSK will take on Delhi Capitals in their first away match of IPL 2024 at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday evening.
