Fleetwood’s on Front Street, a Lahaina restaurant owned by Mick Fleetwood, co-founder and drummer of legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac, was destroyed in the Maui fires. Mick Fleetwood confirmed the news on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Fleetwood’s on Front Street has been lost and while we are heartbroken, our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members,” he wrote.

The restaurant, which served classic steakhouse fare with a Hawaii twist, originally opened in 2012 in the heart of Lahaina. It was located across from Lahaina Harbor on a stretch of street called Gallery Row, a touristy section of the historic town. It also had a rooftop with tables that overlooked the Pacific Ocean.

Throughout the week, the restaurant would host sunset ceremonies. These included Hawaiian Kumu — a traditional sunset ceremony — and a less-traditional British version with a Scottish bagpiper. Every once in a while, Fleetwood would get on the drums himself and perform with bands or even famous musicians — Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler performed there several times.

Lahaina became an “adopted hometown” to Fleetwood, prompting him to open a restaurant there.

“Maui and the Lahaina community have been my home for several decades,” he wrote on Twitter. “This is a devastating moment for Maui, and many are suffering unimaginable loss.”

It is still too early to say whether or when Lahaina will fully recover as the fires have decimated most of the area.

“We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days and months and years to come,” Fleetwood wrote.
