It’s time to try and make Fetch happen again.
That’s right, Mean Girls is hitting the stage in the UK for the first time, and tickets are about to come out.
Adapted from the 2004 movie of the same name, the Mean Girls musical will be arriving in London’s West End in June 2024 to an as-of-yet unannounced end date.
Regina George, Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith will be taking over the halls of the Savoy Theatre next year in a musical entertainment weekly described as a “marvel” as well as “dazzling and hilarious”.
Tina Fey (who wrote the movie’s screenplay) also wrote the book for the Tony Award-winning musical, which debuted on Broadway from 2018-2020.
She said of the newly-announced London residency of the Mean Girls musical: “We’re so excited to bring Mean Girls to London, where everyone already knows what Regina means.”
Producers Lorne Michaels and Sonia Friedman added: “Mean Girls is a timeless comedy that for decades has connected with generations of audiences across the globe. Having worked together for several years on this production, we are immensely proud and excited to be bringing this stage musical, led by this incredible writing and creative team, to London’s Savoy Theatre.”
Tickets for the highly-anticipated musical come out next month, but attendees of North Shore High School will be able to get presale tickets before anyone else.
