In an interview with a news portal, Rakesh revealed that he made the film with an aim to further highlight his son Hrithik Roshan’s acting skills after the success of his debut film, ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’. The filmmaker said that eight of his son’s films hadn’t worked at the time, and the media had started writing him off as a one-film wonder.
The actor-director also remembered how Hrithik immersed himself in the role, knowing that this was his chance to prove he was not a flash in the pan.The actor, who played a mentally-challenged boy in the film, had locked himself up in a hotel room a week prior to the shoot and came straight to the shoot. As soon as he gave his first shot, Rakesh knew that Hrithik had understood his character to the core.
Even after the wide success of ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, Rakesh hadn’t considered building a franchise out of it. According to him, this thought came to him after he watched ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. He thought if they have made three films with the same characters, why can’t he make it with Jadoo? If he gave Jadoo’s powers to Rohit’s [Hrithik’s character] son, he can make him a superhero. And thus was born ‘Krrish’.
Spilling some beans on the next instalment of the popular franchise, Roshan revealed that ‘Krrish 4‘ will go on the floors in 2024. According to him, the film will be a continuation of ‘Krrish 3’.
