Darshan Mehta is the President and Chief Executive of Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), which is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited. In fact, Mehta was founded RBL and he was the first employee to be hired for it in 2007, as per reports. Over the years and under his guidance, RBL has grown into one of the major players in India’s premium luxury fashion and lifestyle segment. He has played a crucial role in bringing more than 50 international high-end brands to the Indian markets, which include Giorgio Armani, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, and Burberry, among others.
Darshan Mehta is a Chartered Accountant (CA) by qualification, and he started his career with Price Waterhouse in Mumbai. He then switched to Trikaya Grey Advertising (which is now under WPP), followed by RBL where he has been working for over 15-years. His salary for the fiscal year 2020-2021 was Rs 4.89 crores, as per Reliance Retail’s filings and a report by DNA India.
Reliance Retail has remarkably grown over the last few years, and the company reported a turnover of INR 2.6 lakh crore for the financial year 2022-2023, as per reports. It is no wonder then, that Darshan Mehta plays an important role in one of India’s biggest conglomerates and its future.
