Mercedes-Benz India’s Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), Lance Bennett, expressed optimism about the double-digit sales growth this year and expects GLC sales to contribute 15% to the company’s total sales. He emphasized the importance of the GLC as a key product for the company.
Mercedes-Benz has sold over 13,000 units of the previous generation GLC in India. The new GLC is expected to witness strong demand as well. The GLC is locally assembled at the company’s manufacturing plant in Pune and is the top-selling SUV for Mercedes-Benz in the country.
The GLC comes in two variants, the GLC 300 4MATIC and the GLC 220d 4MATIC, both featuring all-wheel 4MATIC providing traction on all terrains. It is also equipped with the latest NTG 7 infotainment system and offers larger dimensions compared to its predecessor, resulting in more cabin and boot space.
Bennett highlighted that the GLC is one of the 14 models that the company assembles at its Chakan plant. He also mentioned that Mercedes-Benz continues to evaluate proposals for assembling more products in the country.
Regarding plans for the upcoming festive season, the company is increasing supplies to meet customer demand.
Bennett stated that Mercedes-Benz has already introduced five products in India this year and plans to launch more vehicles by the end of 2023. He confirmed the launch of an electric vehicle (EV) among the five upcoming products.
The GLC 300 4MATIC is equipped with a 2-litre petrol engine and can reach a top speed of 240 km/hr, while the GLC 220d 4MATIC variant features a 2-litre diesel engine with a top speed of 219 km/hr.
