Mexican restaurant and bar company Beach Burrito goes into liquidation

A popular Mexican restaurant company which has several stores across Australia has gone into liquidation.

4 Eyes Pty Ltd, which trades as Beach Burrito Company, went into liquidation on Monday according to documents filed with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

“It was resolved the company be wound up and that David Michael Stimpson & Hugh Armenis (from SV Partners) be appointed liquidators,” the liquidation notice states.

Beach Burrito Company told 7NEWS.com.au the collapse was due to “COVID, higher interest rates and poor weather conditions”.

Beach Burrito stores are located in NSW, SA, QLD and the ACT.

The company confirmed stores in Newtown and Bondi NSW have closed, as well as the Canberra location.

The single Queensland store, located in Coolangatta, has already been closed for about a year, it said.

Beach Burrito Company will continue operating in Coogee, Jindabyne, Dee Why and Newcastle in NSW and Glenelg in South Australia.

The company opened its flagship store in Bondi in 2007 before growing to 10 venues across Australia.

According to its website, each location is influenced by “grassroots art, music, surf, skate and snow communities”.
