The Windsor gets a panoramic glass roof, as opposed to a panoramic sunroof that is commonly seen in many mass-market cars in India. This glass roof is similar to the one we’ve seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5. So how different is it from the panoramic sunroof? The panoramic glass roof is a large continuous expanse of glass that covers a significant portion of the roof.
The glass is fixed and does not open which provides an uninstructed view and lets in more light inside the cabin. The panoramic sunroof on the other hand includes both a fixed glass panel and an operable section that can tilt or slide open. This offers more flexibility with ventilation and exposure and often has a smaller section of glass that opens.
MG calls the Windsor a Crossover utility vehicle (CUV) and the model is inspired by Windsor castle located in the United Kingdom. The Windsor is the third all-electric model by MG in the Indian market after the ZS EV and Comet EV.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Nightmare for rival SUVs | TOI Auto
The MG Windsor EV is essentially re-badged version of the Wuling Cloud EV that’s sold overseas by parent group SAIC. The CUV will be positioned below ZS EV in the Indian market and will rival the Nexon.ev and the Mahindra XUV 400. In terms of design, the Windsor EV features a sleek, boxy shape with a light bar spanning across the width of the car at the front and rear. Other highlights include a split headlamp setup, aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, chunky wheel arches, front door-mounted ORVMs, integrated spoiler, squared LED taillights, flush-fitting door handles and much more.
The Wuling cloud EV is offered with two battery pack options overseas – a 37.9kWh with a 360 km range and a 50.6kWh with a 460km range (claimed). It comes paired with a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that puts out 134hp. However, the Windsor EV in India is expected to get a 50.3kWh pack (same as ZSEV) with a claimed range of up to 460 km in one full charge.
