Dalida, a splashy new Eastern Mediterranean restaurant in the Presidio, was one of the new picks. The Michelin Guide praised the charisma and talent of co-chefs Laura and Sayat Ozyilmaz as well as the restaurant’s cheesy borek and short rib kebabs with sweetbreads.

Movida, a Mexican restaurant near Oracle Park, was the third San Francisco honoree. The Michelin Guide dubbed it a “swanky restaurant-meets-lounge, complete with elevated DJ booth,” serving a mix of Mexican and Persian cuisines. Unique dishes include tostadas made with beef birria and a base of crispy tahdig, and a fried poblano filled with rice, spiced lamb and queso Oaxaca.
Three Los Angeles restaurants were also added to the California guide: modern Korean spot Baroo, hip Japanese eatery Hibi and vegetarian restaurant and wine bar Olivia. Paradisaea, a San Diego restaurant serving California cuisine with an “upscale tropical theme,” was also added to the guide.
While it’s not guaranteed, being added to the California guide means that some of these restaurants could earn Bib Gourmand or Michelin star distinctions at the California Michelin Guide ceremony in 2024.
