Microsoft tests Voice Clarity feature for Windows 11: How can it enhance user experience |

Microsoft has rolled out a new Canary test build for beta testers on Windows. The latest build adds the company’s proprietary Voice Clarity feature. Earlier, this feature was exclusive to Surface devices. Now, the company is reportedly planning to bring the feature for all Windows machines, including those using ARM CPUs.

What is Voice Clarity

In a blog post, Microsoft explains that the feature uses “low complexity AI models” to filter out background noise, echo, and reverberation in real-time.When Voice Clarity is enabled, this feature can improve the meeting experience on Zoom or Teams.

How will it help users

In situations where the speaker is away from the microphone while giving a presentation or if their voice is carrying a lot of reverb or echo, this feature can come in handy. This feature can also remove feedback generated through another participant’s microphone (if they’re nearby) while you’re someone is talkingMicrosoft also explains that PC games will also be able to use this feature for voice chat. The feature will use its AI to suppress unwanted background noise even during gaming sessions.
Apart from this feature, the latest Canary build also brings immediate access to photos and screenshots from connected Android devices. The latest update also adds a new Windows setup procedure that the company says has “a much cleaner and more modern design.” Microsoft has also used this build to add the 80Gbps update to USB4.

Microsoft’s AI spree

The company transformed its Edge browser into an ‘AI browser’, integrated AI in the Microsoft Paint app, brought Copilot to Windows 11 and other tools and services. Microsoft is also planning to bring a version of AI into Notepad. The company has reportedly started testing a new ChatGPT-4 powered feature called Cocreator in Notepad. Rumours suggest that Microsoft is currently working on the feature and may arrive for Windows in the upcoming days.
